The BR152 was commissioned by Deutsche Bahn and built by Krauss-Maffei and Siemens in Munich and Uerdingen from 1995 - 2001. The first series of locomotives were delivered to Deutsche Bahn in March 1998 after years of testing. Used exclusivly for freight they are now used all over Germany with a little under 200 in service.
